Laura's fight against CRPS/RSD
Organized by: Traci Vaccaro-Cook
In 2014 Laura Tucker went in for knee surgery like most people she expected to come out of surgery with some pain, go through physical therapy and then go back to her normal life. Unfortunately she awoke to excruciating pain in her knee. The pain never went away and 6 weeks later she was diagnosed with Complex regional pain syndrome/Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (CRPS/RSD). CRPS/RSD is where your sympathetic nerves are constantly sending messages to the brain telling you you’re in pain and it never ends. It is a debilitating disorder that has left Laura sitting on the sidelines of her life watching everyone live full lives around her. Despite how limiting her condition has been for her she still makes time for others, helping in any way she can. Often times extending herself beyond her limits to do so. As family and friends we have watched a very vibrant women full of life sitting on the sidelines of her life, unable to work, unable to continue with her educational goal to become a teacher and not being able to fully enjoy family life the way she would like to. Laura has gone through every modern medical help there is for her condition with very little relief. Recently she found a natural alternative through Dr. Katinka Van Der Merwe. So far Laura has gone through a little over a weeks worth of treatment and her body is responding well. Insurance however will not cover such treatment. So, our prayer is that you will find it in your heart to help us raise enough money to reach our goals so Laura can continue her treatments. Her main goal is to get off of the pain medication that often times does more harm than good.
