Laura's Medical Mission Trip to Lizapa, Honduras
Organized by: Laura Molinar
EVENT DATE Jun 21, 2014
My name is Laura Molinar, and I will be embarking on a medical mission trip to Honduras.
A little background information about me-- In May of 2013, I graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. I am currently working as a medical assistant at a medical clinic in San Antonio, Texas. In the next few months, I will be getting ready to apply to medical school. It has always been my dream to be able to provide medical and preventative care to every individual in need.
On June 21, I will have the honor of traveling to Honduras with a small mission team of 8 people from Village Baptist Church. On this 8-day mission trip, our team will be working with fellow American and missionary, Sheila Amick. We will be working out of the medical clinic that she has built in Lizapa, as well as in the surrounding areas around the clinic. The purpose of this trip is to provide medical care and treatment to the men, women, and children of Lizapa. We will also be providing medications, clothing, and food to the community and surrounding areas. In addition, we will be offering care to female prisoners in a Lizapa prison. I will also be taking my guitar with me to Honduras, in hopes of giving the gift of music, as well.
The cost of my trip is $1000, and it includes the cost of airfare, food, and our supplies. Our medical supplies include: medications, syringes, sutures, masks, gloves, bandages, medical tools, streptococcus testing kits, etc.
I understand that many of you all may have other financial obligations, however; I ask that if you feel compelled to assist me on my journey in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. Whether that's making a donation to my fund, or simply sending good thoughts/prayers my way-- I am appreciative and humbled by every bit of support.
On this page you can find a video of me singing and playing one of my favorite songs, "Bring it On Home to Me" by Sam Cooke. The quality of the video is not the best, however if you like what you hear, please come to my show at J&O's Cantina in San Antonio on Saturday, May 17 at 10PM! There will be no cover, however all tips will benefit my mission trip to Honduras.
