BENEFITING: Fairmount Park Conservancy
I rarely ask people for money when I run (and I rarely run these days!) but I have been so inspired by the beauty and accessibility of Fairmount Park that I just couldn't resist. At 11,000 acres, it is one of the largest urban parks in the world. It contains 120 neighborhood parks and recreation centers throughout the city, making it a park system with something for everyone. And it is steeped in history. It contains some of the oldest public spaces in the US, created not only for public recreation but also to protect the city's drinking water supply, a function is still performs 150 years later. It is an amazing public legacy cared for by amazing organizations like the Fairmount Park Conservancy. Please join me in raising money and awareness for the park and it's stewards. It's an inspiring example of how urban places can bring beauty and essential resources to people from all walks of life.
