Hi my name is Laura LeMoon. I live in Seattle, WA and currently work as a case manager for transitional housing on the Eastside. I have a BA from Mills College in women's studies and am also a retired Sex Worker, writer and Sex Workers' rights advocate having worked with such agencies as St. James Infirmary in San Francisco- a peer based medical clinic- and Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee in Kolkata, India- a Sex Workers' collective based in the red light district. I have traveled to India 3 times already and speak fluent Hindi. I am embarking on another venture with DMSC and collaborating with DMSC founder and published researcher and medical doctor, Smarajit Jana on a 12 month assessment of the adverse health effects of domestic violence among Sex Workers in Kolkata, including physical, sexual and reproductive, mental and behavioral health. After which the intention is to gauge the need and or extent of domestic violence services for Sex Workers at DMSC.
