BENEFITING: MENDED LITTLE HEARTS INC
EVENT DATE: Feb 07, 2016
Our son, Jordan, was born with a complex heart defect. His heart is so special that only 2 in 10,000 babies are born with this abnormality. Jordan underwent his first open heart surgery when he was only 4 days old and had his second open heart surgery when he was five months. Jordan is now our very lovable, fiesty, and energetic 3 year old.
For the past year, he has been battling pulmonary stenosis and pulmonary obstruction. After our last cardiology appointment it was clear that more needs to be done. Unfortunately, Jordan's heart will need some type of intervention in 2016. We are heading back to Philadelphia in mid January for further testing.
Jordan had his testing last month. In the next few weeks he will have a cardiac catheterization. Jordan will also have his third open heart surgery this spring.
With that being said, Mended Little Hearts has been wonderful. Not only have they reached out to us with kindness and support but this organization has connected us with other heart families across the country. They have been by our side since the beginning of our journey.
Please help Jason, Jordan, and myself bring awareness to CHD and help support Mended Little Hearts as they have done so much to help others.
Help us create a roar around the world for CHD awareness! About 1 in every 110 babies will be born with a congenital heart defect (CHD), making it the most common birth defect in the USA; 25% of them will need heart surgery or other interventions to survive. By participating in the 2016 Roar 'N Run Virtual Charity Race, you can bring awareness to CHD and help raise funds to provide Bravery Bags and other support services to families in the hospital.
This virtual event is for the whole family; you can choose your distance - 5K, 10K, 13.1 miles or 26.2 miles. Walk, jog, or run anywhere you choose, even indoors, and you have a whole week to complete the race. It is only $25 to register (kids under 16 are $15) and every registrant receives a commemorative medal.
Registration begins December 1, and the actual race takes place during CHD Awareness Week, February 7 -14, 2016.
