EVENT: Red Shoe Walk 2014
EVENT DATE: Oct 25, 2014
In April the Ronald McDonald House rekindled a 23 year old relationship with Dr. Michael D. Forcier when they invited the Animal Medical Center and former morning show host of Mt Pleasant to look after Gardy, their new “house dog”. Gardy is a labradoodle donated to the Ronald McDonald House by Yankee outfielder and C of C alumni Brett Gardner. Without hesitation Animal Medical Center agreed and is now is honored with the privilege of maintaining the health and well being of the newest addition to the Ronald McDonald House.
Today, Animal Medical Center is committed not only to Gardy (that’s him with Dr. Forcier) but to the role Ronald McDonald House plays meeting the needs of hospitalized children and their families as they visit Charleston. So help us, help Ronald McDonald House meet their needs and take part with a charitable donation to the Red Shoe Walk. Dr. Forcier and Gardy will be strutting their stuff in the walk on October 25th.
Have you seen the Big Red Shoes around town? Would you like to own a pair just like the ones Darius Rucker wore?
Well here is your chance! The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston is presenting the first ever Red Shoe walk, this October, in Hampton Park. It is sure to be an action packed event that you will not soon forget!
Each night we have 27 families of critically ill children, who have traveled to Charleston for treatment, calling our House a ‘home away from home’. Our home offers these families comfortable beds, hot meals and a caring staff, all just steps from the hospital. It is through your support, that we are able to continue to help these families during their darkest times.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities empowers families by providing stability and vital resources so they can get and keep their child happy and healthy. By keeping families together, RMHC helps children heal faster and cope better.
Here’s our plan… Sign up now on the registration form below and we will provide you with your very own brand new pair of the big red shoes. A $50.00 deposit fee is required. Between now and October 25th, we are asking each participant to raise $1,600, the cost of running the House for 1 night. On average, our House turns away 8 families every night due to a lack of space. This year, we are expanding our home to help more families in need. We will be adding 5 bedrooms for a total of 32 rooms.
We will then convene for a walk like you have never experienced before! Don’t worry about the size of the shoes, as one size fits all! All participants will in fact be wearing the Big Red Shoes for a mile walk around Hampton Park.
