I am excited to share that I have been selected to run on behalf of Trinity Boston Foundation in the 2017 Boston Marathon. Trinity Boston Foundation is an official charity of the Boston Athletic Association, which provides the opportunity for runners liketo participate in this historic race AND support a worthy organization. I have set a personal goal of $8000 and I hope that you will join me as I fundraise to support the work of Trinity Boston Foundation.
Trinity Boston Foundation’s mission is to unlock opportunity and change the odds for the youth of Boston. We build communities that: affirm, inspire, and empower youth; offer support for physical, emotional, and psychological well-being; and strengthen community health and cohesion across Boston.
Trinity Boston Foundation's work was born out of the strong social justice mission of Trinity Church Boston. Their longest-standing programs, the Trinity Boston Counseling Center and Trinity Education for Excellence Program joined to become a 501(c)(3) in 2007, with their running program, Sole Train, added to the portfolio in 2009. In 2013, the Foundation added an embedded program at the McCormack Middle School in Dorchester, which is a 100% minority attended school in the Boston Public School system. Currently, Trinity Boston Foundation provides direct service to 575 youth and families and impacts thousands through professional training services offered by the Counseling Center in schools and organizations across Boston.
Each of Trinity Boston Foundation’s three youth-serving programs target social-emotional wellness and personal achievement through academic mentoring and support, leadership development, counseling services, and running/physical wellness training. Trinity Boston Foundation integrates trauma-informed approaches, restorative justice practices, and racial identity development into all its programs and aligns with an intervention model for preventing youth violence as defined by Boston’s Youth Violence Prevention Funder Learning Collaborative.
I look forward to positively impacting the lives of youth in Boston with my fundraising through the Boston Marathon. For more information, please visit my Crowd Rise page!
