BENEFITING: AUTOIMMUNE ENCEPHALITIS ALLIANCE INC
EVENT: Florence Forth 2017
EVENT DATE: Mar 04, 2017
My name is Lauren Davis. I am a survivor of Anti-NMDA Receptor Autoimmune Encephalitis because of the support & prayers of so many friends & family and the staff at Kaiser Hospital. YOU are my Angels! I was hospitalized on January 1, 2013 following a seizure, diagnosed with with NMDA and remained there until June 5, 2013. When I came home I couldn't talk, read or write. With determination, continued support and speech/occupational therapy, I was able to return to work part-time in July 2014. By August 2015 I was back to work full time and two weeks later I experienced an overlap syndrome of demyelination disease, another autoimmune disease. I unfortunately had to postpone my wedding until hopefully this year. I've recently returned to college to study medical research and hopefully someday find a cause and a cure. People with autoimmune encephalitis are still being misdiagnosed because of lack of awareness of this disease. The AE Alliance is a foundation focused on increasing awareness, education, and helping to improve treatment. Please consider making a donation to support this worthy cause. 100% goes to AE Alliance and it is tax deductible. In addition, my mother has agreed to match dollar for dollar whatever my team raises, up to $5,000. I love spending her money, so please help me meet and exceed my goal! Share this with your friends! Florence Forth was started by Leslie and Will McDow whose daughter Florence died on March 4th, 2012 after a long battle with autoimmune encephalitis. The search for a diagnosis and lack of effective treatments led them to realize the need for increased awareness, improved clinical care and expanded research.
