Lawyer for Custody Case
Organized by: Robert Massella
Our daughter and the father of our granddaughter are both heroin addicts. Since our granddaughter's birth the paternal grandparents have been trying to take her away from us. She is 8 years old now and attends a Catholic school. At a custody hearing in 2008 a temporary custody order was issued by the court for split custody. During that hearing, after the temporary order was issued. The paternal grandfather asked the court if they could get welfare money and food stamps for her since custody was split. In other words, they are fighting for custody of our granddaughter so they can make money off her. Another court order was issued in 2009 granting us primary custody with visitation for them. They didn't like that order. So they filed for custody again. In 2013 another court order was issued maintaining our primary custody but with more visitation for them. They didn't like that order either. So they filed for custody again and we have another family court date set for this coming November. These custody court battles have cost my wife and I over $15,000. We have exhausted our savings and even took out loans to pay for the lawyers. We are tapped out. The current lawyer wants a 5,000.00 retainer to handle this current case and we just don't have it. If the paternal grandparents were to win custody, they will get the welfare money/food stamps they desperately want and they will pull her out of the great Catholic school she currently attends and put her in the public school near where they live. The "Progress Report" for this public school, which is available online, shows that in every grade, 1 thru 8, that half the students can't read or do math a grade level. Also available on line is this public school's violence report. Which shows incidents including disorderly conduct, fights between students, assaults by students on teachers and administrators to sexual assaults by students against other students, drug dealing and trash can fires. Also when our granddaughter returns from their house, she tells us they don't have her brush her teeth or give her baths. They have her Thursdays thru Sunday every other week during the school year. And on many occasions, she is either late for school for doesn't go at all. Also her homework isn't done on the school nights when they have her. The paternal grandparents do not participate in her schooling at all. They never attend parent teacher conferences even though we inform them of when they are. My wife and I's number one goal is to give her all the love and support she deserves and to give her the best education we are capable of giving her. The paternal grandparents are only interest in making off her. In closing I would like to say thank you for reading our story and any help you can provide is and will be greatly appreciated.
