While the rains fell and water steadily flooded areas of Houston, two female pitties were brought in to BARC with extensive burn wounds. They had been trapped in a burning apartment building over the weekend and couldn't be rescued until Tuesday when the waters finally subsided. Whether they were mother and daughter, sisters, or simply companion animals remained unknown. All anyone knew was they were abandoned and someone had to act fast to help ease their suffering. They were surrendered to BARC where the veterinary staff did their best to remove necrotic tissue and tend to their wounds. Unfortunately, the other dog didn't make it. But Layla pulled through and is still with us. Despite being in pain, she has a sweet disposition and is very loving.
Rescued Pets Movement has found a rescue partner who is willing to take this sweet girl into their program and find her a forever home. We've also found an excellent foster to nurse her wounds and give her the love and care she deserves until she's ready to travel. However, she'll need lots of ongoing medical treatments between now and then, and we all know that medical care is VERY expensive. Can you help us by donating whatever you can for her treatments, aftercare, medicines, and her eventual transport fee? We would be very grateful for any contributions offered.
