LC Niños de México!
Organized by: L C
The Greater Mexico City Area is one of the largest urban areas in the world with population estimates ranging from 19.2 million to some 30 million people. In this city alone, there are hundreds of thousands of street children.
To raise enough funds to travel with a volunteer group to Niños de Mexico for a week of hard work and fellowship.
WHO IS Niños de México?
Niños de México (Mexico City, Mexico) operates four children’s homes in the Mexico City area. Each home is designed to function as a family. Within each of these homes are Christian house parents, their kids, and around 11-19 children.
TYPICAL WORK PROJECTS:
Scraping and painting. Flat roofs are common in Mexico and they need attention regularly. They are covered with a protective paint. Resurfacing these roofs is also a common project. This consists of cleaning all the dirt off of roof, chiseling out cracks in the roof and filling them with a tar, and then painting the roof with several layers of a red protective paint. I hear the days are long and the work can be tough… sounds like a challenge! =)
DATES OF THE TRIP: July 26 through August 2, 2014
COST OF THE TRIP: $1200.
This includes my travel, room and board, and meals. It also includes Short-Term travel insurance. However, I have set my personal fundraising goal to $1,500.00 in hopes to donate the additional $300.00 toward the Missions Program to fund future mission trips as coordinated by First Christian Church of Florissant, MO.
