Two years ago I joined the Young Professionals Board for the Alliance Charter Schools. In that time we have helped send over ten worthy students to four year colleges around the country through minor scholarships. We have also given full scholarships to 3 worthy students attending UVA, Brown, and UC Irvine respectively. This has been one of the most meaninful experiences I've had in my life.
Below is the profile of a student whose essay I read last year while on the volunteer committee to review scholarship applications. I fell in love with her immediately. Please help us send more students like her to deserving schools this year and in years to come.
Meet 2015 Scholarship Recipient Estefany | Accepted to her dream college, Brown University, Estefany dreams of become a writer. She was involved in various clubs while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and a community leader at her Alliance high school. She successfully led a schoolwide-shift to become more eco-friendly and volunteered at her local library for a children's reading program. Sadly, when she was accepted to her dream college, the high tuition was an impossible barrier for Estefany and her family. In 2016, YPN awarded Estefany a $25,000 scholarship to help her realize this dream.
Help us reach our campaign goal of raising $20,000 towards the Leaders of Change Scholarship Fund, ending on November 29, 2016. Thank you for your support!
