BENEFITING: GIVE MERIT INC
On June 11, 2016 our inaugural FATE class graduated from high school, each with acceptances to colleges/universities! With their transition to college, we have been hard at work developing an ongoing engagement effort with FATE alumni, and enhancing our high school programming to further our impact in the city of Detroit — FATE 2.0.
Beginning Fall 2016, we will select a new cohort of 25 ninth graders to participate in a weekly, after- school program over four years, in a newly renovated Detroit facility. Each year, an additional group of ninth grade students will enroll as participants, leading to approximately 100 Detroit youth supported by Fall 2019. Students will spend 2-3 hours a week on location at the new facility working toward one capstone project while learning technical skills across a range of topics. The new facility will house FATE’s Youth Development and Workforce Training Center where various community partners including regional industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and volunteer mentors will expose students to the skills needed to compete in various careers.
There is so much to look forward to this year! Thank you in advance for joining me in support of this important effort.
