Whirlpool Corporation Leading by Design for United Way
Whirlpool Corporation prides itself not only on product leadership, but also on community leadership. Whirlpool has a deep heritage of social responsibility and giving back. It's all about making moments that matter for the communities we serve. One of the most important groups we give to is the United Way.
For decades, Whirlpool Corporation has been a top contributor to the United Way. The company raised more than $2.5 million during the Twin Cities campaign in 2015 to benefit the United Way of Southwest Michigan. Across Whirlpool Corporation's footprint, all eight of our U.S. plants conduct campaigns to benefit their local United Way chapters. These include plants in Amana (Iowa), Cleveland (Tenn.), Clyde (Ohio), Findlay (Ohio), Greenville (Ohio), Marion (Ohio), Ottawa (Ohio) and Tulsa (Okla.). Whirlpool Corporation's sales employees across the United States also give to the United Way during the campaign.
In memory of Michelle Lebeau, Beth Janick, Paul Degrazia who recently lost their battles with cancer and in honor of all of our sales people who have fought the fight against cancer; the NSC 2016 fundraiser for United Way will direct 50% of the money raised to the support and treatment of cancer patients in Southwest Michigan.
Since 2011, Whirlpool Corporation sales employees have raised money for charities through its annual sales conference. This year the sales organization has elected to raise money for the United Way of Southwest Michigan. Through this fundraiser the sales organiation celebrates and showcases its committment to One Whirlpool by growing the foundation of the communities surrounding our corporate headquarters.
About the United Way of Southwest Michigan:
The United Way of Southwest Michigan seeks to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities by investing in the areas of: Education, Income, Health and Basic Needs. The organization continues to be a vital lifeline for funding many organizations that impact lives in Southwest Michigan.
As part of a national network of more than 1,300 locally governed organizations, the United Way of Southwest Michigan works to create lasting positive changes in communities and people’s lives. The chapter leverages the national organization's century of service as the nation’s preeminent community-based fundraiser to engage communities in Berrien and Cass counties to identify underlying causes of the most significant local issues. Then they develop strategies and pull together financial and human resources to address them, and measure the results.
The United Way Creed is "Great Things Happen When We Live United." It is a constant reminder that when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. We build the strength of our neighborhoods. We bolster the health of our communities. And we change the lives of those who walk by us every day.
Officially, Whirlpool Corporation seeks to grow last year's goal of $2.4 million to $2.6 million in southwest Michigan.
