BENEFITING: ST LUKES EPISCOPAL-PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL
The Leadville 100 Trail Run is one of the most grueling ultramarathons in the world. But it is nothing compared to the physical, mental, spiritual and financial challenges cancer patients and their families encounter. That's why I have partnered with the amazing people at The Life & Hope Fund to raise money to help those individuals and families who find themselves in a seemingly hopeless situation without the resources to get the care they so desperately need. Hope. Life. Thank you very much for helping make both of those things possible!
The Life & Hope Fund is based in St. Louis at St. Luke's Hospital (where The Incredible Tami Strand works!) and was established to ensure that patients with cancer lacking adequate financial resources have access to quality medical care. Over 90% of your donation goes directly to those in need.
The Leadville 100 Trail Run (aka The Race Across The Sky) is a 100-mile ultramarathon held August 22-23, 2015 on trails and dirt roads near Leadville, CO, through the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Runners in the race climb and descend 17,000 feet, with elevations ranging between 9,200-12,620 feet. It is common for less than half the starters to complete the race within the 30 hour time limit. You start at 4 AM. You do not stop to sleep. You run. All day. All night. With 35% less oxygen than at sea level.
By the way, I'm Eric. I've run over 50 marathons but never anything as grueling as the Leadville 100. Why am I running this one for The Life & Hope Fund? Few of us have gone through our lives without losing someone dear to cancer. This has hit particularly close to our family over the past decade. It's time to do something more than write a check every once in awhile . . . it's time to ask you to join me in writing a check or pulling out a credit card to lend a hand! I have met with the caring people at The Life & Hope Fund and know they will use our $$ to spread hope and save lives.
Thank you so much for your support!
P.S. Tami and I donated the first $1000 to help prime the Life & Hope pump!
