In August of 2016, I am running the Leadville 100 - one of the hardest ultramarathons in the world - to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa. Every year, Ronald McDonald House Charities help out thousands of families across the nation who are faced with the worst situations imaginable - a loved one is in need of critical, long term care. Hotel rooms are expensive and the medical bills are staggering. RMHC helps the families by providing meals, comfort and rooms free or at little charge. In 2005, I lost one of my best friends to brain cancer during his freshman year at the University of Iowa. This is the tenth year without him - and I want to do something insane to raise money and awareness of the charity. I'll be 30 next year - and Trent didn't get to see 20.
