“The biggest challenge I have faced
and conquered in life was coping
with my father’s passing, and still
being able to succeed,” she said.
Doreen, whose mother is 30, did
not want to get married at a young
age. “My mother is jobless and
sometimes sells sweets, sugar and
flour. If I were not at Daraja, I
would be helping her to do that
business in order to help put my
brother continue his education.”
Doreen would like to become a
professor. She aspires to help
orphans and young girls who are
unable to attend school because of
financial limitations, just like her.
Doreen is grateful everyday for the
opportunity to be at Daraja. “I
think of my brother and my mother
because I wonder if they are eating
and where they are, if they are fine
or not.” With her education, Doreen
is looking forward to providing for
her family members.
At Daraja, Doreen enjoys play soccer
