Breast cancer survivor stuck with leaking silicone gel implants
After losing both breast and surviving breast cancer, Joy is now faced with leaking silicone gel implants and does not have medical insurance or funds to remove the toxic implants.
Joy was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago. At that time underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. Joy’s surgeon in charge of the reconstruction encouraged her to use silicone gel implants in her reconstruction. The surgeon never told Joy that these silicone gel implants were a part of an FDA study.
After many surgeries, Joy was left with a botched reconstruction. If that was not bad enough, later during a MRI, it was discovered that her left implant was leaking silicone gel into her body. She also found out that both implants need to be removed and replaced.
Today, Joy is experiencing burning, itching and pain from the leakage. The problem is that Joy is uninsured and cannot find work. With your help, she can receive the surgery that she needs.
What We Need
Any size donation is greatly appreciated. Joy needs to raise $10,000 to pay for the following:
Removal of silicone implants and reconstruction surgery
Recovery assistance for rent and utilities during her recovery
