Thank you for donating to The Children’s Room on behalf of my running the Boston Marathon.

What an incredible experience. From the day I called Donna at The Children’s Room to ask if I could apply for a number to taking the commuter rail home after completing the marathon and everything in between. I feel so fortunate to have had this experience. Completing my goal of running Boston while also raising over $11,000 for The Children’s Room made it all that much sweeter.

When I look back on the day of the marathon, what I will remember most are the people. Gathering in Hopkinton with friends that I had trained with, many of who have run before. Many offered advice or wisdom. Then the sheer number of volunteers that were handing out water at the start and herding us into our correct corrals and then we were off. From the very start people lined the streets. Every step of the way, there was someone cheering us on, waving a flag, offering a high five or handing out water, or my favorite, a wet paper towel. Much of my training was done alone but on Marathon Monday we were never alone. People called out my name shouting words of encouragement, and when I saw my family I instantly broke into tears. I was the one who had to endure the pain of the miles stretched out in front of me but I didn’t do it alone. I was buoyed up by my family, by my friends and by strangers alike.

Thank you for donating to the Children’s Room. It is truly a wonderful organization doing the hard but rewarding work of creating safe supportive communities for families who have lost a parent or sibling. I am grateful that TCR exists and with your support, we will be able to positively impact that many more families in need of their services. Thanks again!

Best,

Dear Leanna,
Thank you so much for the generous donation - it really means so much!

How have you been? Are you still in NY? Life in the Boston area is good. I have 4 kids ages 16, 14, 12 and almost 6. People say bigger kids bigger problems but I'm loving these ages... We're actually getting a puppy on Sunday so things will be even crazier around here (as if that's possible).

Anyway, thanks again for the donation. Wishing you a very happy new year :)

Best,

Susan
