George and Regina Ngige started the orphanage by taking in street kids to sleep on the floor of their church. The children are much loved. And in spite of having very little, the children are happy and grateful for what they have. They are kind and eager to learn.
In addition to running the orphanage with her husband George, Regina is the headmaster of the school. She has the highest of hopes for the children and encourages their best work by having the highest of standards.
Recently, my friends and I were able to purchase desks for the 20 class 8 level children. (see pictures). At the end of the next year, when all of the class 8 kids 'ace' their exams they will be ready for high school. High schools in Kenya are boarding schools and it will be approximately $600 per student per year. To that end we hope to raise the $8,000 for their upcoming high school tuition for the 20 students.
Additionally, it is our hope to raise money to help pay for basic living expenses, water, electricity, food etc. and to help with school supplies for all the kids.
