For the past 5 years, LearnToLive has brought together hundreds of local and international doctors, nurses, public health professionals, engineers, artists, and volunteers from all walks of life to the islands of Indonesia to help local communities bring awareness and access to their health, sanitation, and overall well being.
Since our first trip back in 2011, LTL has partnered with local clinicians to see over 6000 patients in our health clinics. We've developed a community mental health program for those in Indonesia with serious mental illness who have never before been treated. We've built 5 rainwater catchment systems in schools which provide clean drinking water and taught a curriculum their promoting proper hygiene.
This year, on our 6th trip to Indonesia, we will be building another rainwater catchment system in the community of Likupang Ambon—a community with no access to clean drinking water and with extremely poor sanitation facilities. We're also laying the groundwork to build several more on the remote islands by partnering with the local Red Cross and government. Our health clinics are expanding into an additional island community. We're also bringing a much needed dental team for the first time. Our thorough data collection is taking a huge step forward by becoming fully automated and electronic to be more easily shared with the locals and other organizations and to inform us about our work and how to improve!
But in order for LearnToLive to keep reaching more communities in all these ways, we need your help.
LearnToLive hopes to reach a fundraising goal of $7500 to help improve the lives of rural Indonesian communities.
$3000 will go towards building a rainwater catchment / clean drinking water system for the people of Likupang.
$500 will be used to help facilitate LearnToLive’s clinics and health care education training.
$1000 will pay for patients’ medication and treatment.
$1500 will pay for our data collection tablets.
$500 will go towards transportation for patients to our clinics.
$500 will go towards medical equipment for our patients: wheelchairs, walking sticks. and commodes.
Every dollar you help us raise will bring the residents of Indonesia one step closer to having ownership over their own wellbeing, and improve the lives of future generations to come. Will you help us on our quest to teach people today to change tomorrow?
