I am single mother raising two hearing teenage sons, Luke and Andrew. All my life I have been diagnosed with Usher Syndrome Type 1 (a combined vision loss and hearing loss). I also have an eye condition called nystagmus. My hobbies are walking and jogging.
In the last few years, I participated in several runs ranging from 5ks to 10ks. However, this will be my first time to do a half marathon which is 13.1 miles.
My goal is to run two half marathons this year. I am participating in the Chicago Half Marathon Series program. I will run two half marathons: one in the Spring and one in the Fall which will give me a 26.2 mile medal for finishing both races. This will be a challenge! I am excited I have found a few SSP (Support Service Provider) runners to guide me for both races.
I would like to raise money for Le COBDA (The Club of Blind Deaf Adults). This money will pay for food, activities and trips for the DeafBlind members and the SSPs.
I appreciate your sponsorship for LeCOBDA and the Chicago Lighthouse Deaf-Blind Program.
I believe I can do both half marathons this year!
