In the Great Rift Valley region of Kenya, there are thousands of orphaned children living without parents, sometimes completely alone, sometimes on the streets or othertimes being raised by teenage siblings who were thrust into the role of parenting due to tragic life circumstances. These orphaned chilren are at risk of becoming ill, being malnourished, and suffering from effects of extreme poverty. Most drop out of school and struggle to survive.
To spend time with these children is a moving experience - their eyes and hearts are still full of hope, despite the hardship they have already faced in their short lives.
Lee Sisters Foundation has kicked off 'Project Winnie' - an inititaive to build an orphange for these children. The orphanage will accommodate up to 90 children, ranging in age from 3 to 12 years old.
We are determined to create a safe place for these children to call home. A place to grow up, a place where they feel safe, and secure and have stability.
Help us help them.
$10 = will pay for nails
$25 = will pay for a window
$50 = will buy bags of cement
$100 = will pay for digging a well for clean water
$150 = will pay for space for one orphanged child
$300 = will pay for lumber to build a room of the orphange
So far, we have raised $5,800. By the end of August, we hope to raise $10,000.
We need $16,000 to cover building costs of the the orphanage, and have a goal of raising an additional $4,000 for beds, food, and salary of the caretakers who will stay at the orphanage, for a total goal of $20,000.
