THE STORY:

My name is Dawn, I married Pat in 1980.While married we had two Beautiful girls together Sheila&Natasha. As in too many marriages we divorced in 1999 after 19 years but one thing did not change and that was our raising of our girls together,Natasha blessed us with a Grandbaby, Shae “RicaShae“ as Pat would call her now 6yr old,Sheila is expecting a Grandson in Dec.Pat was so proud of them!Pat spent every moment he could with them and spent his life time for our girls, Loving, teaching and providing for them.Pat always did right by everyone and touched many people near and far in his travels. Pat in a search for companionship thought he had found just the person to make his life complete,He brought her to the United States with honest intentions. He married her right away and started the Immigration process for her. In this process to show good faith assets must be named in both the husband and wife names. After a short time he found the mistakes made and the marriage was destined to fail. He spoke with a divorce lawyer who advised him on what he would have to do to end the marriage. It was about the time (August 2016) he was diagnosed with Cancer and knew he had to fight it.He was trying to get his affairs back in order naming our daughters and gave our daughters complete financial/medical Power of attorney. The wife of only 2½ years told him and even myself that she would sign any divorce papers ONLY after her immigration was updated but not until then. Before Pat was able to take care of everything he had a very rapid and unexpected decline in his health with that his death on Sept. 15 2016 A time line of events of this most difficult time:Sept 14 approx.8:30am Tasha and family friend goes to house to pick up Pat for a DR appt as the wife says he is sleeping But in obvious distress she leaves to work. They call ambulance!Approx.10 am we found out she had a meeting with a lawyer because he called to check if the life insurance policy is still paid up,to a large amount of money naming her only before he is even air lifted to a larger hospital 1 hr away.Approx.3:40pm I called her to let her know of Pat’s condition after exam and we were told he would be on life support. If she wanted to see him,She said she would change out of her scrubs & be right in(1HR drive)Approx.9:30pm she shows up to hospital and spent maybe 5 min and left.Sept 15 Sheila,Pat’s Mom & Sister to arrive from out of state, along with family & friends,Pat was taken off life support and he passed. We were with him till his last breath. I made a promise to Pat that day, I would continue to take care of our family that was his world. We all left the hospital with great sorrow in our hearts made the trip back to Pat’s and the girl’s family home to feed Horses and let the dogs out to run(All things He Loved to do)Just to try to be close to their Dad only to find that the wife had the locks changed at the house(before coming in to say goodbye to her husband) and they were not welcome at the home any longer! They were not allowed to make any arrangement for their Dad’s Funeral/Service and were not welcome. They have not been given any information by her nor will her attorney! We had a free consult with a wonderful attorney but will not be able to retain them unless they have the help with the funding. It is well worth the girls getting legal aid. The wife is lawyered up big time! They need the ugliness behind them to grieve/celebrate their father’s life they had with him.I as Pat’s friend,Mom of his Girls and Nana to his Grandbabies ask for your help in fulfilling the promise made to Pat.Any amount donated to this legal aid is greatly appreciated, Every Prayer you say for our family and Friends, share this on your FaceBook or email it is also greatly appreciated! Thank You,Dawn Garrett
