Legos for Little Learners

THE STORY:

Working at a Title I school presents many challenges. Often, as a teacher, I'm left trying to figure out ways to motivate my "exceptionally unmotivated children". They come to school each day with everything but learning on their minds. In a classroom filled with such diversity, the one common thread between my six and seven year olds is their love of Legos. I've already come up with many ways to incorporate Legos into classroom lessons and incentives. However, as I started looking into the cost of multiple boxes of Legos, on my teacher salary, I quickly pushed that idea to the side. (Dang are those little pieces of plastic expensive!!) So...here I am, Go Fund Me! :) As soon as I have enough Legos to supply my class, the first task my students will have to complete is to work with a partner to create a 6+ inch 3D model of one of the letters in my name...working cooperatively, using critical thinking, and problem solving strategies! Hello real world...
