Pat's Run all done!
April 23, 2016
Saturday, 23rd April 2016 there's a little race in a place called Tempe Arizona. We'll be participating! Stacey & Taylor have been training hard and hopefully Daymo can make it too. Hayleigh and Di will be taking Austin in the Kids Walk so it really will be family fun! We'd love your support.
Pat’s Run is the signature fundraising event of the Pat Tillman Foundation. Held in late April to commemorate the day Pat lost his life in Afghanistan serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Pat’s Run is a 4.2 Mile Run/Walk that winds through the streets of Tempe to Sun Devil Stadium, symbolic of the #42 jersey Pat wore as an ASU Sun Devil. Since 2005, Pat’s Run has grown from a 5,000 person race to honor Pat’s legacy to over 35,000 participants committed to empowering the Tillman Scholars through academic scholarships.
Every year, Pat Tillman Foundation receives thousands of applications from Post-9/11 military veterans and their spouses nationwide. Up to 60 of the best-poised leaders, who show strength in character, academic excellence and incredible potential, are chosen as Tillman Scholars. They are individuals who will apply the best lessons they’ve learned in life and the military to impact our country for years to come in medicine, business, law, science, education and the arts.
If you'd like to know more about Pat's Run and Pat Tillman, the man who gave up a mutli-million dollar NFL contract with the Arizona Cardinals to join the Army, you could try reading the infuriating book - Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer, or see the enraging documentary - The Tillman Story.
