EVENT DATE: Jan 01, 2013
Our good friend Leila is having a birthday, and, on her behalf, we are looking to give the gift that means the most: water.
The lack of access to water in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is a crisis.
According to the World Bank: "Resulting shortage of potable water and sewage overflows in urban areas is becoming an imminent public health danger. As of today, nearly the entire population of Gaza is without running water" (web.worldbank.org).
The water the population needs is underneath the soil.
All of the money we raise will go to the Cooperate for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE), a major humanitarian organization that has a program in the West Bank and Gaza, to give families the capacity to pump and store safe, clean water. Your donation will assist CARE WBG in "making new water wells, building household water cisterns, small scale irrigation systems, rehabilitating and building new water systems, pumping stations, constructing sanitation units for village schools, and increasing community awareness of sanitation and water conservation" (www.carewbg.org).
We in no way represent CARE WBG or CARE International, and for more information please go to www.carewbg.org.
Thank you for your gift to Leila and to the families in the West Bank!
