Lenape Solar of Sunbury, PA is undertaking an extensive humanitarian project in Haiti. We are donating our time, energy, and resources to install a photovoltaic system valued at $600,000 on a new hospital and support compound on the island of La Gonave on the west coast of the main land of Haiti. The small hospital in the town of Anse-a-Galets was constructed in the 1950’s to serve a population of 10,000, but now serves over 120,000. Undersized and physically damaged from the earthquake, the existing electrical systems cannot support the hospital, which is the only medical facility on the island.
Lenape has committed to designing, procuring the materials, fundraising, and returning to La Gonave with a 20 person installation team in August of 2013 to bring this system online at no expense to the Global Partners Organization who manages the facility. We have already reached almost $280,000 in funding for this project, but we still have a long way to go.
The Lenape Solar in Haiti Project is a 100% donated project relying on volunteer labor, donations, and discounts on products that we need to purchase. Any and all support we receive is greatly appreciated and goes to support the community in Anse-a-Galets, Haiti.
