BENEFITING: The Lenny Zakim Fund
ORGANIZER: The Lenny Zakim Fund
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Thank you for your support in this endeavor. The honor of running the 2015 Boston Marathon is the reward for helping the Lenny Zakim Fund continue its mission to provide support to those who have the dream but not the means to bring services in their communities. The Lenny Zakim Fund is an example of "entrepeneurial philanthropy" - the idea that those doing the most in their communities see the solution to the problem but lack the means to achieve it. LZF provides these visionaries with the practical support necessary for running a modern non-profit. From workshops on leadership to guidance on the proper manner of keeping the books and filing a Form 990, the LZF gives grassroots efforts the means to achieve lasting effects. Thank you for your generosity and your support. No person walks (or runs) alone and I thank you for being part of my journey with the Lenny Zakim Fund.

Your support of Team LZF will allow The Lenny Zakim Fund to continue to support and strengthen programs that are addressing important issues in our communities -- programs that provide English classes for new Americans, address and stop youth violence, build homes for low income families, and much, much more!
The mission of The Lenny Zakim Fund is to identify, listen to, support and connect grassroots community organizations and programs operating "below the radar screen" of large charitable groups and government grants. The Lenny Zakim Fund provides assistance to those who demonstrate the will and potential to make a difference, but lack the necessary resources.
As a reflection of Lenny Zakim’s personal ideals, The Lenny Fund is especially interested in supporting groups involved in constructive coalition building across race, religious and ethnic lines. The Lenny Zakim Fund provides financial support, technical assistance and networking opportunities to individuals and grassroots organizations seeking:
- to promote secular and religious educational efforts
- to promote the Jewish tradition of social justice and programs supporting civil and human rights
- to combat illiteracy and poverty
- to support anti-violence initiatives, and
- to advance the causes of medical research and health care.
