Please join me in the effort to raise awareness of the Let Me Run (LMR) program. With nine other devoted Charity Runners, I will run the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 5th, 2017. Why am I running the NYC marathon at the ripe age of 47, on behalf of the LMR program? My son is a LMR runner. For four consecutive running seasons, this unique running program continues to celebrate his abundant energy while developing leadership skills, building confidence, and teaching him the importance of choosing to lead a healthy lifestyle!
Please help raise awareness and much-needed funds to expand the Let Me Run program nationwide. The Let Me Run is a nonprofit holistic health program that uses the power of running to inspire 4th - 8th grade boys to be themselves, build healthy relationships and live active lifestyles. This comprehensive seven - week program follows a curriculum designed to improve boys' confidence, promote self expression and respect for others while breaking down the destructive “boys code” that is often communicated to our boys' unknowingly - with comments like "Man -Up!" The boys meet twice a week after school for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Two trained coaches lead a team through a practice consisting of a Unity Lap, proper stretching techniques, running, and a life lesson from the LMR curriculum.
At the close of seven weeks, the program celebrates the boys' success by participating in a local 5k race. It is amazing to see the boys' expressions as they each reach the finish line, trying their best as the crowd cheers them on!
With your generiosity, the Let Me Run program will expand to other schools so many more boys have this awesome positive experience, like my son, during these formative years.
Thank you in advance for your support! Let Me Run .... :)
