BENEFITING: International Rescue Committee
During my time serving as a missionary in NYC, I grew to love refugees and immigrants in a way that only a missionary can love someone. I started to really see all individuals as children of God and begin to understand just how much God loves all of His children. I listened to hundreds of stories of people who came to America seeking refuge and who found it thanks to the wonderful blessings and freedoms that we enjoy in this country. My heart simultaneously broke and rejoiced as I saw the way that these refugees lived in the not-so-glamorous slums of New York, with nothing but gratitude for the new life that they had. After returning from my mission I felt a call to action from church leaders, political heat, and the undeniable love that I felt for my dear friends. Many of you have felt this same call to action--a desire to help, serve, and make a difference--but you don't know exactly where to begin. Here's my challenge to you: 1. Buy a bracelet 100% of the proceeds are donated to the International Rescue Committee to help refugees across America get housing, health care, food, education, jobs, literacy skills, legal services, and more 2. Wear the bracelet and spread the word! Help others to participate, donate, and get involved 3. Get involved in a local service project Check out what the IRC has available in your community or search for other local groups to support refugees Each bracelet comes with the challenge to serve in your community and get someone else involved as well. My prayer is that we may see all of God's children as our brothers and sisters, and love and help them as such. Let's brace refugees and make refuge for all.
