Reema Gruenspecht wrote -I have suffered with migraines since I was a child. While migraine is often thrown around as a term describing a "bad headache" it is in reality, much much more than that. Migraine is a severe disabling neurological disorder currently affecting 38 million Americans, and is the 6th most disabling and 3rd most prevalent illness in the world. I am one of the more than 90% of migraine sufferers who are unable to work or function normally during their migraine, and you know what? I. Am. Sick. Of. It. It is time for a change! While I am fortunate enough to have worked with exceptional doctors to find a treatment plan, I still get them. There is no cure. People suffer daily, chronically. Sometimes unpredictably, sometimes for seemingly no reason at all. A migraine is not just the pain; its the nausea, the emotional distress, the associated anxiety and depression, that NO ONE should have to suffer with. Migraine is not the same for everyone. It has different triggers, different treatments, and often goes undiagnosed for many sufferers. Migraine is not well understood by many medical professionals and that is why I have made it my goal to do what I can to help change that.
