My good friend and colleague Dave Sievert was diagnosed three years ago with Multiple System Atrophy. Dave was a talented musician and a phenomenal teacher. Dave was also a very gifted athlete, specifically he was a tremendously talented runner. Dave is a great man of faith and it has been humbling to watch Dave and his family as this disease has tried to strip him of his dignity and humanity. In Dave's honor I am planning on running in the Rite-Aid Cleveland Marathon in May and I will also be participating in the Seattle to Portland bike ride in July. Your gifts, no matter how great or small, will help to deepen our understanding of this disease and hopefully, eventually find a cure.
