Let's Open The Dreamland Theatre Again!!!!
Organized by: Rochelle Prefontaine
I am the owner of the Dreamland Theatre in Rockglen Sk. This theatre entertains with live music as well as family entertainment and educational documentaries. We are set way south in Saskatchewan and this theatre has been here since 1949. When the movie business made the decision to go digital our theatre was not in a position to put close to a hundred thousand dollars to go digital. So in 2011 the theatre closed. We are now decided to put a projection system in the theatre and be able to continue entertain not just Rockglen but all the surrounding towns, villages, and hamlets. We will put a projection system in and reopen the theatre once again. In 2008 we had completely renovated the theatre with 203 new chairs and new movie screen and we renovated the lobby to reflect the 1950's look. It is our hope that we can raise enough money to make the conversion from 35mm movie to a projection system and put new steps from the street level. They have broken down so badly it is a liability issue as our community has a lot of senior citizens. Their safety is of the utmost importance. As with any public business insurance and taxes are a heavy burden. This theatre is self supporting and an important part of our history that needs to be enjoyed by our younger generation. The funds required to open this theatre are minimal but the joy it will bring to our town and all the surrounding towns is priceless please help me to open the theatre and I will personally run the business with the help of one friend.
