Let's Send Maggie to the International Scoliosis Convention
Organized by: Tamie Gangloff
June is Scoliosis Awareness Month! I am a scoliosis warrior and, although I have my limitations, I am able to run. Last year, I was able to run for Stacie's Scoliosis Soldiers and I intend to do the same this year. I am honored to run for those that cannot. On June 25, I am competing in a triathlon in which I will be running the run leg of the relay, which is a 10K run.
I would like to run for Maggie.
This year, my dear friend Stacie and her group of Scoliosis Soldiers, is raising funds to send Maggie and her family to this convention in New York.
"This year, our team is raising funds to help our friend Maggie Condie. She is a seven year old spit fire personality who has battled infantile onset scoliosis since birth. Maggie has the opportunity to attend an international scoliosis convention in New York this summer. We want to help her go on the trip! During the event, her family will meet some of the best scoliosis doctors, surgeons, specialists, and therapists from around the world. Maggie will engage in positive self esteem building exercises designed to help kids process the emotional and physical impacts of scoliosis. The convention will be a life-changing event over three days of sessions with hundreds of other children and families battling scoliosis. Maggie has been invited to model her scoliosis brace in a fashion show during the event. We are selling our team t-shirts online to help! Maggie's case is very rare due to the severity of the curve and the lack of effectiveness from all treatments to date including bracing, casting, VEPTR growing rod surgery, halo traction and a thousand hours of physical therapy. She’s had 50 procedures done on her fragile body and 60 over night hospital stays. Her curve is over a hundred degrees and very high in the thoracic spine impacting her heart, lungs and vital organs. Maggie's lungs are dangerously under developed and are a main concern as her condition could be life threatening. We hope she can meet a doctor or specialist at the convention that will take interest in Maggie's case and that may have a new approach for her care." Every little bit helps! Please consider donating for Maggie and her family!
