In the city of Kokrajhar, India, many children have lost one or both parents in ethnic conflict. The situation is especially tragic for young, impoverished girls. They live exposed and helpless lives that have no one to turn to for help. Rape and enslavement is endemic, and the perpetrators rarely see justice. Most women are deprived of education and the hope of any future.
The Home of Hope will build a new orphanage in Kokrajhar that will house 150 orphaned, abandoned and neglected girls. It will be a beacon of hope for the poor, a place where girls are safe from the horrors of the street or refugee camp. They will break the cycle of poverty their families have known for generations and develop into educated, moral, upstanding New Women for the New India.
Join me in my mission to build a badly needed kitchen for the girls in Kokrajhar. It costs 5,000 dollars to build a kitchenette that will serve over 150 orphans. Without the kitchen, we cannot prepare clean and healthy meals for the girls.
