Flourish Bakery is a supportive community that fosters hope, health, and spiritual growth while teaching the art and skills of professional baking. Flourish Bakery employs individuals in recovery from substance use disorders as well as those working to reintegrate their lives post-incarceration. This employment opportunity in the Flourish community assists individuals in the healing process and works to reduce recidivism and relapse through life and job skills training. Flourish provides a community of support, mentorship, and friendship, and is a space of life transformation. Flourish Bakery is launching its training program this autumn and hopes to be accepted as a vendor in the Downtown Winter Farmer’s Market, a locus of community life held at the Rio Grande. Flourish will focus its farmer’s market production on unique breads and seasonal pastries. As Flourish grows into its brick-and-mortar location, the menu will center around artisan hearth-baked bread, hand-made pies, breakfast rolls and pastries, and hand-crafted sandwiches on house-made bread. To foster community, Flourish plans to offer a welcoming pay-as-you-can public meal one evening each week along with other community gathering opportunities celebrating the baking and breaking of bread. We believe that human life is transformed in the context of community. Just as enzymes transform the dough in the process of baking bread, so does love exercised produce transformation in a human life. I hope you will join us at this event. The proceeds from this event will go to immediate support of the training program launch. We have planned a wonderful evening, and I hope you will join us to see Salt Lake at sunset, enjoy some music and a meal created by this city’s best-known chefs, and to also learn more about us. If your schedule will not allow you to join us, I encourage you to make a generous donation in support of Let’s Flourish. A little change makes a big difference, and with your help we can be that change here in Salt Lake City."
