“Shall Thy Passion Help those in Need”
Greetings of Peace!
I am writing to you in behalf of the Filipino children affected by typhoon Haian in Tacloban City, and its neighboring areas in the Philippines.
According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 1.7 million children have been grievously left in need of food, water, and shelter after the typhoon hit the Visayas region of the Philippines on November 8th of this year. Aside from basic needs, the organization seeks to provide aid to better the health conditions and provide sanitary living environment to these children of whom many have been orphaned.
It is to this cause that I am dedicating my GORE-TEX 50-Mile Ultramarathon Run on December 7, 2013 in the Marin Headlands, near The Golden Gate Bridge, hosted by The North Face Endurance Challenge.
My name is Gerald Odocayen, a registered nurse at Bayview Behavioral Health Campus (Paradise Valley Hospital psych annex). I was born in the Philippines and currently, am residing in Chula Vista. With my wife and son, I would like to extend a hand to the Filipino children as I pursue my passion. The North Face together with Crowdrise.com has given me the opportunity to run for a cause.
I would like to raise $ 10,000.00 for UNICEF USA benefiting the children victimized by Typhoon Haian.
It is in this light that I am requesting your much needed assistance. By making a tax-deductible donation to this campaign, together, we continue to make a difference in the lives of children.
