Mike Lichtenberger is working with the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise awareness and much needed funds for ongoing research. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Annual Man & Woman of the Year Campaign is a 10-week fundraiser marked by numerous events and awareness opportunities to raise funds for this remarkable organization. Michael chose to get involved with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of a family member who has MDS and is undergoing chemotherapy and transfusions and in honor of a brave family friend who lost his battle with blood cancer in 2011.
Michael Lichtenberger is a twenty year resident of Bethlehem where he resides with his wife, Judy. Michael has two children, Jessica and Brian and two grandchildren, Ryan and Abigail.
Michael is the Principal and Chief Operating Officer of enTrust Merchant Services. Previously Michael held executive positions with General Electric, United Technologies and The BOC Group. Michael obtained a BA in Economics from State University College in Buffalo, New York. Michael is a fellow of the Institute for Independent Business in London and is a certified payments professional by the Electronic Transactions Association.
Michael is a member of the Regional and Community Chambers of Commerce, a USA Hockey Coach in Chief in the Atlantic District, and the National Coach in Chief for the American Collegiate Hockey Association. He has been a program stakeholder with CareerLink Academy for career exploration in Allentown School District and a visiting executive at Lehigh University’s Global Village and Seton Hall’s Stillman Graduate School of Business. Michael is a member of the Business Advisory Group for Lehigh Carbon Community College.
Some of Michael’s philanthropic projects include Team Wes Campaign in 2010-2011 where he helped to raise $15,000 for the National Transplant Assistance Fund and Michael has also awarded over a dozen HRC Sports Summer Camp Scholarships.
Michael’s hobby is Ice Hockey (head coach Lehigh University 1999-2013) where he was twice named coach of the year by peers in Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association.
Michael plans on raising funds for his campaign with two major events: 1] a dinner and casino night on May 22, 2013 at Gaetano’s Italian Restaurant; 2] Business Mixer on June 13, 2013 at Cosmopolitan. Both events feature raffles and auction items including golf outings at Woodstone CC and Bethlehem Muni. GC.; private lessons with PGA professionals; tickets in the owners’ suite and general admission tickets to upcoming concerts at the Sands Event Center; Vacation Resort; Suite tickets to Iron Pigs; sports memorabilia, etc., as well as a steady letter campaign and appeal for funds from among 100’s of friends and professional colleagues.

HOW YOUR DOLLARS ARE USED
To date, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) has invested more than $875 million in research aimed at helping all blood cancer patients live longer, healthy lives. We will continue to support research through our innovative and integrated funding programs until every patient has a safe and effective therapy. In fiscal year 2012, LLS invested $68.4 million in research.
RESEARCH: LLS supported research in the U.S., Canada, and 10 other countries in 2012. LLS currently has research commitments of $19 million invested locally, with researchers at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, The Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania and Fox Chase Cancer Center.
PATIENT SERVICES: LLS provides a range of services, such as family support groups, an extensive educational website, free seminars and conferences, direct patient financial aid and co-pay assistance.
EDUCATION: LLS serves as the world’s foremost source of information on blood cancers including an Information Resource Center, (800) 955-4572, an extensive collection of free educational materials, professional education and an award-winning website.
ADVOCACY: LLS’s advocacy program has a strong voice in Washington, DC representing the healthcare and medical research interests of patients and their families to policy makers at all levels of government.
