BENEFITING: SAN MIGUEL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
For my 13th birthday, I would like to help build a home for a family in need.
I have already raised about $2,000 for a nonprofit organization called Casita Linda, based in San Miguel de Allende, in central Mexico. Casita Linda’s mission is to create a dignified, safe, and empowering environment that provides a foundation of hope for families living in extreme poverty. Casita Linda builds approximately eight houses per year for families who cannot afford them. 63% of the population of San Miguel live in shacks.
Casita Linda can build an entire house for around $8,500 USD. Before Casita Linda, families lived in small shacks (barely bigger than my bathroom), made out of scraps of metal and loose construction pieces.
Thanks to Casita Linda, families now live in sturdy houses with efficient wood-burning stoves, water catchment systems, solar lights, a vegetable garden, and paint on the house. It makes me realize how lucky I am.
As a 13th birthday present, won't you please help me raise $6,013 to finish building a home for a family living in extreme poverty? Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you in advance! : )
