BENEFITING: LOST-N-FOUND YOUTH INC
One of our Lost-n-Found Youth needs help with a government application fee to get a green card under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. We are helpnig her to transition into a successful and independent life, but we need your help to keep her situation stable and moving in the right direction.
She moved to the US from Jamaica with her biological family at age 6. She is 19 years old now, and the United States is her home. The rest of her family has since obtained green cards, but they refuse to help her because of her sexual orientation.
Her lawyer has already asked for a fee waiver, and it was denied. Without this paying this fee she is stuck in legal limbo, where she cannot legally work without the green card and can't pay for the application fee without being able to work legally.
Because she is not a US citizen, she is not eligible for food stamps and many of the other programs available to the homeless.
We need $465 to pay this fee for her Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals application. This will give her a 2 year reprieve from deportation and allow her to legally work. The $465 fee is paid to the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (a government agency) and not a lawyer. She has a lawyer working the case pro bono.
Please help us work a miracle for this homeless teen with your donation. This is an opportunity to make a major difference in the life and development of a young member of our community who needs our help!
