BENEFITING: LONG ISLAND 2 DAY WALK TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
As many of you know, I am running the NYC Marathon in November. I have decided to raise money for a cause that is near and dear to my heart.
Five years ago, this October, we lost my mother-in-law, Patricia Keany, to breast cancer. In her honor and memory, my family has been involved in the Long Island 2-Day Breast Cancer walk here on Long Island.
Participants in the walk spend two days walking 35 miles in Suffolk county to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research in hopes of finding a cure for this terrible disease that has hurt far too many families.
Thanks to the generosity of many, my wife's team (Team Hope) has raised $50,000 in the five years that they have walked!
Pat was a tremendous woman. She touched, and continues to touch, countless lives. She was taken from us much too soon. Her strong spirit lives on through her family. I hope that by raising money for the 2-day that I can, in some small way, pay tribute and honor to her.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my page, and please give generously, if you are able to.
The Long Island 2 Day Walk is organized to raise awareness and funding for the fight against breast cancer on Long Island. 100% of the donations raised by the participants are distributed to grassroots service organizations so the funds reach the members of the Long Island community affected by breast cancer.
What's Raised Here Stays Here
LI2DAY has raised over $4 MILLION from the annual 35-mile, two day walk. Local grassroots breast cancer organizations from Manhasset to Montauk receive funding from LI2DAY for programs that assist with medical expenses, transportation, prosthetics and wigs, physical therapy, child care, research, education and more.
