Please support Russell as he raises money for Team Liberty Science Center and his participation in the 43nd Running of the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 4, 2012!
As the father of a young child I wanted to do more to provide experiences that connect schools and society to science and technology. I felt compelled to support the leaders in providing interactive science and technology education, inspiring teachers and students to pursue lifelong learning.
In this day it's never been more important to defend science and what is has done for society as a whole. We must ensure that future generations of children appreciate learning, critical thinking and logical reasoning.
Of course it's two fold, because as important of a cause Team Liberty Science Center is, I too am looking to benefit from this endevour. Only 1 year ago I topped the scales at just over 300lbs, on a road to nothing more than death. So, I made a concious decision to amend the bad habits that I had acquried over 41 years and set forth to become fit and healthy enough to consider running 26.2 miles.
There wasn't a magic pill, or quick solution to this. I had to trust science and follow what was right in terms of eating habits and exercise. The result is, that as of writing this now I am 214 lbs. I've run a 10K in April, I'm running a Half Marathon on the 19th of May and I train everyday to ensure that when November 4th comes I will be able to reach what I would of considered the most unreachable of goals this time in 2011.
I know times are hard for us all, but any donation for the Team Liberty Science Center and me will greatly appreciated. My UK friends please understand your money is worth more so small donations become larger automatically.
Let's help the next generation of children that will develop many, many beneficial contributions to society. Help me fulfill a dream and stay on road to be a fit and healthy father.
Thank you for your support!
