BENEFITING: Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood
As a psychoanalyst who treats adults, it is a special pleasure to join the Lucy Daniels Center board to support in-depth treatment for young children as well as help for their families. The Center also serves as a valuable outreach of psychoanalysis into the community. Psychoanalysis as a young adult changed my life. How much better to help young people with their whole future ahead of them? This is one of less than a handful of psychoanalytic elementary schools in the country offering intensive treatment to children who so often get piecemeal services that help them to cope but don’t really help them to get emotionally back on track. That is the meaning of “getting children back to happy.” We believe that happy is the place where a child can grow and develop to become his or her own best self. And it makes me happy to advance such a critical mission.
Supporting the Lucy Daniels Center provides access to psychoanalysis and psychotherapy for families of varying means: 90% of all the children and their families receive financial support and approximately 15% pay nothing for their care. Your gifts support innovative and award-winning programs such as SecurePath program, a partnership with Wake County SmartStart. SecurePath is the only program of its kind in the region, reaching into the homes of low-income, at risk infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Your gifts support the Lucy Daniels School, the only therapeutic preschool and grade school of its kind in the state. And your gifts support exposing countless professionals to a way of helping children at odds with the prevailing behavior-only focus in our culture.
Will you please join me in supporting this valuable resource for our region and indeed for our whole country?
Thank you for your support.
