St. Patrick Hospital and Health Foundation's Fundraiser:

Life Flight/Trauma

St. Patrick Hospital and Health Foundation's Photo

Life Flight has been in operation for 31 years and offers rotor wing, fixed wing and ground transport for adult and pediatric medical and trauma patients. All of the Life Flight nurses have either an Advanced Critical Care or Emergency Certification, and all Life Flight Paramedics are Critical Care Paramedics.
Life Flight is located on the secured top floor of St. Patrick Hospital. The crew of a pilot, flight paramedic and flight nurse work in 24-hour shifts and are equipped with full living quarters. During the entire 24-hour shift, the crew remains dressed in their medical flight suits, ready to take off in the American Eurocopter AS350 AStar parked on top of a landing pad marked by a giant green shamrock. In addition to keeping the helicopter within walking distance, the crew also maintains and operates a fixed wing airplane and a ground ambulance.

Within five minutes of receiving a 911 dispatch call, the crew is airborne in search for the people needing help. Both the helicopter and fixed-wing are used on more than 300 calls each year. Life Flight has developed into an essential program in Western Montana responding to 911 emergencies. The fixed wing airplane, the unrecognized workhorse of the Life Flight program, transports nearly 370 patients in more than 720 flight hours to and from destinations across the northwestern United States.
