I've been on dialysis for 3 years and I recently had weight loss surgery done which was covered by Medicaid because it was not being done for cosmetic reasons (you must be a certain weight before you are even placed on the transplant list). I went from 298 lbs to my now present weight of 150 lbs. At this point I am still not on the list. I now need to get the extra skin off my body which I cannot afford and will not be covered. This has caused me further depression since I cannot afford to have it done on the funds I receive from disability. I was a productive part of the workforce until this terrible disease basically took over my life. I look forward to going back to work and helping others on dialysis who need help being that most don't have enough money to eat or for medication because they lack the funds. My goal is to help others in any way I can so they don't have to go through what I have been through.
