Lifting up with hands of help.
Organized by: Gary Ferrante
Jenn is an extraordinary friend of ours who has fallen on to incredibly difficult circumstances. She has recently become a single mother of six,(relied on the income of her spouse) with no college education or real work experience. Her husband left her and their children just under a year ago and has been forced to spend all of her savings just to keep the lights on. Her children are starting to realize, not only the obvious emotional toll but now the financial struggle has become apparent. Jenn immediately got work at minimum wage and started online courses to further her education but with the income of a freshly graduated high school student supporting 6 kids at the ages of 16,14,12,11,9, and 2 setting money aside for another semester of school has taken a back seat to putting food on the table. After loosing her house my wife and I were able to help her find a home for rent in a "not terrible" side of town. Now with the school year about to begin we are going to buy all the necessary school supplies for her kids but we don't have the funds to pay for new beds(lost all her beds due to bed bugs), decent clothes for school(eldest boy and girl had growth spurts the other kids will settle for "hand me downs"), as well as another semester of school(going for an accounting certification). Turns out she's a math wiz. She has no idea we are doing this for her, she won't take help from the government programs she could easily qualify for and has been trying to make a little extra by babysitting our kids and odd jobs. Literally anything helps.
