BENEFITING: TERI ENERGY AND RESOURCES INSTITUTE
Lighting a Billion Lives is a flagship campaign of the The Energy and Resources Institute, India (http://labl.teriin.org/), which aims to light up one billion lives in the poorest countries of the world with solar lighting technology. Under this program, I wish to raise funds for installing solar micro-grids (providing two light points in each house) to 50 households each in 10 remote villages of Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state. The micro-grid will be operated and maintained by a central household in each village, designated as the Village Level Entrepreneur, who will collect a monthly rent from the other beneficiaries. Thus, each micro-grid serves as a livelihood source, besides providing light to un-electrified villages.
