Former All-Pro NFL linebacker turned world famous yogi, Keith Mitchell, discovered a universal need for emotional and physical healing. As a good steward of his time, gifts, and talents, he proudly advocates for 3 cause-worthy missions. These missions raise awareness for services that benefit at-risk youth, adults, veterans, and families in need through his 501(c)3 non-profit organization known as Light It Up.
OUR FIRST MISSION BEGINS WITH THE JUST BREATHE FOR VETERANS FUNDRAISER (SEE BELOW)
A growing number of U.S. military veterans struggle with serious neurological and mental health problems including:
- Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS)
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Keith’s foundation is committed to helping former and existing veterans cope with combat-related stress issues. Our soldiers who have risked their lives to serve our country can experience the healing effects of yoga, meditation and mindfulness!
Mindful daily practices may help veterans lead more successful post-deployment lives, while helping them transition back to civilian life and reconnect with themselves, friends, and families. To regain conscious awareness of ourselves and those around us is key to our healing as a whole.
Yoga can be extremely beneficial to those who are transitioning home from deployment and those who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) because it provides guiding insights on reconnecting with civil life, relieving stress and regaining control over nervous system disorders.
Meditation helps to overcome self-destructive behaviors and habits that may be controlling our lives. It can guide us to re-connect within ourselves as we are ALL in the present moment, ALL desire to find comfort in our own skin, and ALL seek the healing of concealed traumas that dwell in the body, mind, and spirit.
To our Armed forces who have risked their lives, served and are still serving our country, we salute you for all your sacrifices!
Yoga is not just about stretching and flexibility! Athletes work tirelessly through rigorous schedules and grueling mental and physical workout regiments. Often we ignore the body’s cry for help until it is much too late. For athletes of all levels, practice of yoga and meditation teaches individuals that the mind and body are not machines - but rather living dynamic organisms needing to recuperate and recharge.
Yoga teaches you to connect with your body and be aware of it in a way unlike any other!
