BENEFITING: UNITE TO LIGHT
In the Zambian community of Macha, most people live and work with no electricity. Mothers cook over open fires, students study by candle light, and children play in the dark. Not only is life without electricity very challenging, it can also be dangerous. Help people in Macha by pledging just enough money to buy one solar-powered light for one family. Just $10 toward our goal of $2000, and you've bought one light for someone in Macha. One light, one household--you can make a difference!
Note about the Team Members:
This fundraiser has been organized by a group of faculty members and graduate students at UC Santa Barbara, who are collaborating with community members in Macha to research the use of the Internet and mobile phones in rural Zambia. Along the way, we have also discovered that Machans could really use these solar-powered lights!
